EDGE set as PC modem - incoming call issue

I had a question with EDGE connection

i want to buy an edge supported set and connect it with my pc/laptop and browse net with the pc/laptop

i would be using GP EDGE.

while using net in such way would i be able to receive incoming calls? or would the caller receive "bz/cannt be reached" kinda error msg?

hi, i guess it's a bit late to answer your question now but hey i am new to this forum, here is your answer -

while you are using (that means while you are downloading or uploading anything) your mobile phone as a modem with your pc/laptop then if anybody calls you then he/she will get a msg "phone can't be reached" but if you are not in the payload then you will receive call and when your call will end then GPRS/EDGE will resume...., hope it will help you...

yah i m already using it by now... but still 10x 4 da reply

yah.. when:

1. you are browsing from your cell ph ( ex. the browser in your mobile ph)-
you ll receive ph calls. gprs data will get "on hold" while the call is going on and will get resumed after that.

2. you are using the cell as modem and browing from your pc-
you wont get any ph calls. caller will get "cannt b reached" kinda msg.
(like foreign operators gp should upgrade it to user in data mode kinda msg)

however in 0.001% case you might still get calls while hooked up with pc... may b while a slow data transfer. it did happen.

tested with Nokia 6680 with GP EDGE.

if at home m ALWAYS connected using it as pc modem. (yah u wont get me on cell while m at home..lol )
