The Pacific Bangladesh Limited, operator of CityCell brand cellphone, Sunday announced a new pre-paid mobile phone package.
The ‘Call 2 Cash’ package will be made available from today (Monday) at a cost ranging from Tk4, 999 to Tk20, 999 based on the prices of handsets brought under the offer.
‘The package will facilitate subscribers to add money to their accounts just by receiving calls,’ said Farhad Alam , vice president (product development) of CityCell.
‘Under this new package, customers receiving calls from any CityCell mobile will get 25 paisa added to their accounts for every minute after the call is connected,’ he said.
The amount will be uploaded to customers’ prepaid accounts automatically, he said, while explaining the features of the new package at a press conference.
Extra facilities offered in the new package include BTTB connectivity, SMS at Tk1.5 to other CityCell mobiles and 30-second pulse from the very first minute.
The CityCell, country’s first mobile phone operator, has around 3.20 lakh subscribers of which 70 per cent are prepaid.
Inekhab Mahmud, senior vice president, marketing said that the company has a target to reach one million subscribers by this year.
In 2004, the company achieved around 80 per cent growth, he said.
The sector will see a huge growth up to 2007 before it starts slowing down and comes to a saturation point by 2010, the CityCell executive said, giving a forecast about the cellphone industry’s future.
Among others, Shaila Alam, head of brand marketing of the CityCell, also spoke.
