GrameenPhone Ltd. has introduced “GPWORLD” — a channel to explore the world of information and entertainment tailored to be accessible from a mobile phone through the WAP service.
For the first time in Bangladesh, subscribers with WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) connectivity can browse through GP’s new WAP portal and experience a new range of infotainment options available to them.
What is “GPWORLD”?
GPWORLD is a source of exclusive content and services for GrameenPhone subscribers under the ‘Value Added Service’ category. It is believed that the contents and service available will add a new dimension to the lifestyle of the GP subscriber. Through GPWORLD, subscribers will be able to download exclusive content, such as themes, wallpapers, logos, tones etc. to customize their mobile handsets as well download various types of useful mobile-based applications like, web browsers, instant messaging applications, e-mailing applications, etc.
What is the unique about “GPWORLD”?
All content and applications available in GPWORLD are exclusive only for GrameenPhone subscribers.
How to use GPWORLD?
To use GPWORLD a subscriber needs to have a WAP-enabled handset and active GrameenPhone EDGE connectivity. For web and WAP browsing, the following two types of packages are available:
Package 1 (P1) is a pay-as-you-go option. There are no monthly fees. A browsing charge is applicable on usage volume. Additionally, a charge is also applicable when ring tones, wallpapers, logo and other contents are downloaded from the portal (http://wap.gpworld.com.bd).
Package 2 (P2) is only applicable for GP post-paid subscribers. A fixed monthly fee is charged for unlimited browsing and a download charge is also applicable for contents like ring tones, wallpapers, logo etc. from the portal.
How to download contents from wap.gpworld.com?
Users have to open their mobile phone browser and type in the following address http://wap.gpworld.com to access the GPWORLD home page. In the home page there are different categories like Ring Tones, My Album, Directory, Wallpaper, Logos, Animation/Video, News, Games, Video Ring Tones, Go to Djuice site, Special, mSoccer, CellBazaar, Yahoo! Messenger, Opera Mini, Bangla SMS, More Links etc., all the user has to do is scroll down to the desired category and click.
Each category has different subcategories with the name or visuals/images/preview of the available content. The user has to select the desired content and click to download. Before downloading begins the user will be informed of the total charges payable for the contents. Once download begins the contents will be downloaded and saved on the mobile handset.
Users may choose to personalize their mobile phone with the content after successful downloading.
